How Funny does things differently.
After visiting distilleries around the world, we chose what we believe is the best: a modified Lomond still with adjustable reflux rate, adjustable plates and a sacrificial copper basket — up to four rectifications in a single distillation.
By calculation, its copper-to-wash surface ratio reaches 9.33, above the 4.95–6.58 of traditional Scotch stills.
Molasses from Taisugar's Huwei mill; distilling malt imported from Scotland and Europe; top-grade M-series yeast; PD39A, a Taiwan-native yeast selected by Dr. Isheng Tsai of Academia Sinica; and stream water from Dabajian Mountain, Smangus and the Cinsbu giant-tree grove.
American oak, French oak, Spanish sherry casks — and the world's only Taiwan rum casks. Endless aromas and textures to explore. Our team works closely with cooperages and distilleries across Europe and the Americas, with casks traceable to the century-old family houses Boswell and González Byass.
Our rum's character starts with the rich brown-sugar notes of Taiwanese sugarcane; fermentation and distillation then add a fun, grass-jelly-honey aroma!
Our whisky's character comes from on-grain malt fermentation — rare worldwide and unique in Asia — then the Lomond still strips out off-notes and builds malty cereal aroma and an oily texture: the first Lomond Malt whisky in Asia.
